With a deep-rooted passion for public transportation and workforce development, Eugene Lujan has built a dynamic career within ABQ Ride. Starting as a Sun Van Chauffeur, he gained firsthand experience serving the community before advancing through key operational roles, including Dispatch and Customer Service. His expertise in transit operations led him to the Training Division, where he has been instrumental in shaping the future of operator education and leadership development.

As the Interim Training Center Manager, Eugene oversees all CDL examinations, training for ABQ Ride’s driving force, and professional development for support staff across the organization. His leadership extends across all three modes of ABQ Ride’s transportation services—Paratransit, Fixed Route, and Microtransit (ABQ Ride Connect). His team is responsible for training operators and support staff in each mode, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, customer service, and operational excellence.

Eugene played a pivotal role in establishing the Training Division as a standalone entity within ABQ Ride, previously housed under Operations. Under his leadership, the division has achieved state certification as a CDL examiner, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to high-quality instruction and compliance.

Beyond training, Eugene is a recognized change agent within the organization, driving improvements in workforce development, leadership training, and mentorship programs. He is also a member of ABQ Ride’s Security Team and represents the agency on the Paratransit Advisory Board, advocating for equitable and efficient transit services. With extensive knowledge, experience, and training in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), he ensures accessibility and compliance remain at the forefront of ABQ Ride’s operations.
