Gabrielle Chavez serves as the Transit Director of Administration for Santa Fe Trails with the City of Santa Fe, where she manages Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grants and supports transit operations for the city’s public transportation system.

A lifelong New Mexican and dedicated public servant, Gabrielle brings over a decade of experience in public transportation and mobility programs. She began her career with the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) in 2015, where she worked in several roles and most recently served as the Transit Planning and Service Coordination Manager, helping advance transportation demand management programs and statewide mobility initiatives.

In her current role with Santa Fe Trails, Gabrielle focuses on strengthening transit service delivery, managing federal funding programs, and supporting sustainable transportation initiatives that improve mobility and quality of life for residents and visitors alike. She is passionate about expanding access to public transportation, building strong partnerships across agencies, and supporting innovative transit solutions that serve communities of all sizes.

Gabrielle has also contributed to regional transportation planning efforts through her participation in transportation policy and technical committees, helping coordinate transit priorities across local and regional partners.

Through her experience in state and local government, Gabrielle has developed a collaborative approach to transit leadership and is committed to representing the needs of small urban transit systems across New Mexico on the New Mexico Transit Association Board.
