My name is Mary Collins and I currently hold the position of Operations Manager for the Clovis Area Transit System. I’ve worked for the City of Clovis for over 30 years. During my tenure here I have held the following positions: transit operator, dispatcher/scheduler, administrative assistant and now operations manager. As many of you know who work in a small transit department, I wear many hats and perform a wide variety of tasks, but my duties include hiring, supervision, and training of all drivers; tracking and scheduling of all fleet maintenance; driver work schedules; and overall operations.

I enjoy my job tremendously, take pride in being a behind the scenes worker and giving 110 percent to the success of the system. This has garnered my selection as the City’s Employee of the Quarter. As a driver I won the Bus Division of our State Roadeo in 1995, which was the first year they incorporated the cut-aways and I’ve only missed attendance at two State Roadeos since inception. I completed CTAA’s course on Certified Community Transit Supervisor and have completed numerous hours of training in this field.

I am very devoted to the success of the CATS program and the success of NMTA. I know that the service we provide is a lifeline to the citizens of this state and what we do matters in their daily lives. It is our responsibility as Transit Supervisors to instill this view to our staff and to spread this message across the state to leaders in our communities.
